Almost, Maine

Tickets on Sale NOW!

The Penfield Players will open their spring main stage production, Almost, Maine by John Cariani, on April 28, 2023, for seven performances.

Almost, Maine, directed by Tom Bigongiari, is about the residents of a small community in Maine, so far north it’s almost in Canada. It focuses on one magical night in which the residents find, lose, and rediscover love. The community is called Almost, Maine because the people who live there never quite got around to incorporating it into a town, but they are a caring community, nevertheless.

Set against the backdrop of the Northern Lights, the nine stories that make up Almost, Maine add up to an evening of enchanting, poignant, sometimes sad, and often funny theatre in which we discover the many ways that we share a common humanity of the heart.

“Almost, Maine is a play about love in all its forms; the good, the difficult, the awkward, and the magical. In a series of 9 vignettes, we peek into the characters’ lives, and we get to see memories of ourselves and the loves we’ve had, lost, dreamt of, and hope to find soon,” said Director Tom Bigongiari. “It’s been an absolute pleasure working with this group of talented actors and the creative team, and we’re looking forward to presenting it to our audience.”

All performances are at the Penfield Community Center, 1985 Baird Rd, in Penfield. Performances are on April 28, 29, May 5, 6, 12, 13 at 8 p.m. The evening performance on May 5 will have an ASL sign language interpreter. There is a matinee on Sunday, May 7, at 2 p.m.
